Bishkek, May 22, 2018 / Kabar /. Prime Minister Muhammedkaliy Abylgaziev met with executive director of Centerra Gold Inc. Scott Perry. During the meeting, the sides discussed the issues related to the Strategic Agreement signed on September 11, 2017.
Abylgaziev noted that thanks to the Kumtor project, which is the core of the assets of Centerra Gold Inc., it is one of the world's largest mining companies.
"The government realizes the significant role of the Kumtor project in the country's economy. It is also worth noting that this project attracts public attention and all the negotiations of the parties and the taken decisions should be transparent and in the public interest. And we welcome the steps taken by the management of Centerra Gold Inc. on the formation of a transparent management system on "Kumtor" project and the expansion of the framework for financing environmental activities. At the same time, it is necessary to achieve certain progress on environmental protection and social partnership issues within the framework of the investment project," Abylgaziev stressed.
In turn, the CEO of Centerra Gold Inc. Scott Perry said that he will do his best to bring the position of Kyrgyzstan and the Board of Directors closer together.
