Bishkek, Dec. 11, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar to the Kyrgyz Republic Abdullah Ahmed Al Sulaiti.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between the countries were discussed, the press service of the Government’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The head of government congratulated Abdullah Ahmed Al Sulaiti on the start of his diplomatic mission in Kyrgyzstan and expressed confidence that this would further strengthen the relationship between the two states. The Prime Minister noted that the Kyrgyz side attaches great importance to the development of bilateral cooperation with Qatar.

Abylgaziyev thanked the Qatari side for their support in implementing various projects in the country. At the same time, he stressed that the current state of trade and economic cooperation between the countries is at an insufficient level, and therefore expressed the need for mutual enhancement of work in this direction.

The Ambassador of Qatar assured the head of government that all the agreements reached earlier would be implemented by the Qatari side in accordance with the approved schedule. He emphasized that the domestic spheres of agriculture and subsoil use are the most attractive for investment.

Abdullah Ahmed Al Sulaiti also told that in the near future, the Qatari Charitable Foundation will implement several large-scale projects, one of which is equipping the children's oncological hospital in Bishkek with the necessary equipment.

In addition, during the meeting, the sides discussed the possibility of introducing a visa-free regime for Kyrgyz citizens, as well as opening of direct flights between the countries. The Prime Minister said that this would significantly increase the volume of Qatari investments in the domestic economy and improve trade and economic indicators between the countries.

At the same time, the head of government offered to consider the possibility of creating a Kyrgyz-Qatari investment fund for preferential financing of entrepreneurship in the country.

“Joint Kyrgyz-Qatari enterprises could be involved in the production and processing of agricultural products. Kyrgyzstan has a good opportunity to export to neighboring countries, the EAEU and Europe thanks to the GSP+ status”, Abylgaziyev said.

He also noted with satisfaction the growing interest in Kyrgyzstan from tourists from Arab countries. The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the opening of direct flights will contribute to a greater increase in the number of tourists from Qatar.
