Bishkek, Jan.30, 2020. /Kabar/. Without peace and order, no reform or program can be implemented in a country, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaizev said at the meeting of the Interior Ministry Board on the results of 2019, the press service of the Government reported.
"2019 was a difficult year in terms of law and order. Several new codes and laws came into force as part of judicial and legal reform, the first stage of the Safe City project was successfully implemented, and a Patrol Police Service was established. More than 87% of all crimes recorded last year throughout the country have been investigated by internal affairs bodies," Abylgaziev said.
Despite certain shortcomings in the work, the prime minister noted recently there has been a tendency to increase citizens' trust in the militia.
"According to the Statistics Committee’s data, at the end of the second half of 2019 the index of confidence in the internal affairs bodies increased from 13.5 to 23 points. This is a good indicator. Of course, there is an improvement but there are still tasks to be solved," Abylgaziev said.
At the same time, he drew attention to the need for a more careful selection of those who want to work in the police.
"Work with personal staff should be carried out constantly, as some police officers violate the law. In 2019, 63 crimes committed by law enforcement officials were registered. You should be an example for our citizens, not on the lists of violators.
The state is making efforts to ensure social protection of police officers, increase salaries and build housing," the prime minister concluded.
