Bishkek, Jan. 25, 2019. /Kabar/. Tourism is a promising sector of the economy; therefore, great hopes are placed on it, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev told at a regular government meeting.
Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Azamat Jamankulov spoke on the issue on Approval of the Government Program of the Kyrgyz Republic on the Development of the Tourism Sector for 2019-2023, the press service of the Government Office reported.
The Prime Minister noted that Kyrgyzstan has something to attract tourists: beautiful nature, historical and cultural monuments, hospitable people.
“We need to pay special attention to tourism facilities, regardless of their property. I consider it necessary to develop cultural facilities such as Tash-Rabat, Sulaiman-Too, Santash, Zhyrgalan, Issyk-Ata and other public health complexes in the framework of public-private partnerships. We want these facilities to work effectively in the interests of the state. It is necessary to interest business in the development of tourism,” Abylgaziev said.
The Prime Minister stated that agriculture in the structure of GDP takes up 13-14%, tourism - 5%. Agriculture employs 70% of the population, and in the field of tourism – a lot less. At the same time, tourism occupies a good position in the structure of GDP.
In addition, Abylgaziyev reminded that the President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed the Law on Amendments to the Air Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to the changes, the fifth level of air freedom has been introduced in the republic. Now airplanes from other countries will be able to use domestic airports when transporting goods and passengers.
“The introduction of the ‘fifth air freedom’ will positively affect both the economy and the development of the tourism industry of the republic,” the Prime Minister said.
In turn, the Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Jamankulov presented information on the development of the tourism sector in the years 2019-2023.
In particular, it is proposed to create favorable conditions for the development of the domestic tourism sector in order to enhance the country's image in the international arena and contribute to tourism in the economy, taking into account the principles of sustainable tourism by increasing its share in GDP of at least 7%, and also pay attention to the development of various types of tourism activities.
Having heard the information, the head of government instructed to speed up all the instructions that are specified in the draft protocol adopted today at a meeting of the government of the Kyrgyz Republic.
