Bishkek, Oct. 28, 2020. /Kabar/. A total of 4,184 traffic accidents were registered in Kyrgyzstan since the beginning of the year. It became known during the meeting of the Kyrgyz Internal Ministry Board.
According to the ministry’s press service, accidents claimed lives of 496 people, 6,271 Kyrgyzstanis were injured. During the reporting period, 915 accidents involving children were registered, 59 of them died and 1063 were injured.
It is noted that the level of road safety directly affects the sustainability of socio-economic development and the effective operation of the entire transport infrastructure in Kyrgyzstan.
"The main tasks of the Main Department of Road Traffic Safety remain unchanged - to maintain order and improve safety on our roads, aimed at radically reducing the number of deaths and injuries in road accidents. Despite the reduction of traffic accidents, the Road Traffic Safety Department should strengthen the measures taken to reduce the number of deaths in road accidents," the report says.
