Bishkek, May 1, 2021. / Kabar /. Tajikistan fired at civilians from mortars and, having invaded the territory of Kyrgyzstan, began to burn houses of civilians and destroy social and economic facilities.
Expert on international security issues Ulanbek Dzhumanaev spoke about the consequences of this and what needs to be done in this case.
“The forces of Tajikistan have seized the territory of Kyrgyzstan, this is a violation of international laws and Tajikistan must be held accountable for this by law. Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan need to withdraw their troops and start the negotiation process, life must go on,” Dzhumanaev said.
He stressed that Kyrgyzstan needs to start a post-conflict process of rebuilding infrastructure and raise the issue of compensation, which the Tajik side must bear now.
“For this, there are all international mechanisms, relevant UN divisions, they must come, document everything and probably to raise the issue at the level of an international tribunal, since there is an act of aggression by Tajikistan and even crimes against civilians have been recorded. There are all the grounds there, I think Kyrgyzstan should calmly begin the investigation process together with international organizations,” the expert concluded.
