Acting FM of Armenia condoles Kyrgyz people over human casualties in border conflict

Bishkek, May 4, 2021. / Kabar /. A telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ruslan Kazakbaev and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ara Aivazyan took place on May 4, 2021, at the initiative of the Armenian side, press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.

The acting Armenian foreign minister expressed his condolences to the people of the Kyrgyz Republic in connection with the events that took place on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border on April 28-29, 2021, resulting in human casualties.

During the conversation, Kazakbaev expressed gratitude and informed about the state of affairs in the border regions of Kyrgyzstan with Tajikistan. In order to relieve tension in the conflict zone, at the initiative of the Kyrgyz side, a number of negotiations were held between representatives of the relevant state bodies of the two countries, as a result of which an agreement was reached on a complete ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops. At present, work is underway to stabilize and monitor the fulfillment of obligations under the Protocol on the settlement of the armed conflict in the border areas of Batken Oblast of the Kyrgyz Republic and Sughd Oblast of the Republic of Tajikistan. Meanwhile, active work is being carried out to provide humanitarian assistance to the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic affected by the conflict.

The Armenian diplomat, in turn, noted with satisfaction the agreements reached between the two countries to prevent further escalation of tension and to settle the outbreak of conflict. In this context, Aivazyan highly assessed the actions of the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed his readiness to provide assistance.

The sides also paid attention to topical issues of the bilateral agenda and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing an active political dialogue.
