Bishkek, Jan. 28, 2020. /Kabar/. Acting Prime Minister, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Artem Novikov met with Chairman of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) Management Board Nikolai Podguzov, who arrived in the country to participate in the inauguration ceremony of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov.

According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Government, the parties discussed topical issues of enhancing cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Eurasian Development Bank.

There is a clear need to increase the EDB's portfolio invested in the Kyrgyz Republic and expand its coverage of sectors of the economy. Today the portfolio of the financial institution is about $70 million. It is mostly concentrated on projects in the financial sector. We should strive to deepen the implementation of integration projects in the Eurasian Economic Union," Novikov noted.

"It is an honor for me to be in Bishkek on the day of inauguration of the country's president. I am sure that under the leadership of the new president the country will reach a new level of economic development and Eurasian Development Bank should play an important role in this," the chairman said.

The sides praised the bilateral cooperation in the framework of investment and grant projects implemented by the financial institution in the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as discussed medium-term plans and the further development of partnerships.
