Acting PM of Kyrgyzstan meets with leading Manas narrators of country

Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2020 / Kabar/. Acting Prime Minister, First Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Artem Novikov on the eve of the Manas Epic Day met with the leading Manas narrators, the government’s press service said.

During the meeting, Artem Novikov noted the importance of preserving the spiritual and cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz people, the most striking embodiment of which is the Manas epic.

“There are different cultures in the world that prove their antiquity with architectural, historical, archaeological assets. The uniqueness of the Manas epic is that it is a great living heritage that has no analogues and occupies a special place in world culture. It continues to live in the form in which it was in origin. It is a chest of knowledge that upbringing generations. The epic can unite all of us in a difficult time for the country, such as during a pandemic. I would also like to note a recent event that struck the whole world. Doolot Sydykov continuously read the Manas epic for more than 14 hours. I hope that this event will be included in the Guinness Book of Records, which once again emphasizes the uniqueness of the art of legend,” he said.

During the conversation, the Manas narrators talked about the problems they face in their work.

After listening to the interlocutors, Artem Novikov recalled the five-year national program being developed to support and popularize the Manas epic, assuring that the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic will make efforts to solve the voiced problems.

The acting prime minister once again congratulated the storytellers on the Manas Epic Day and wished them a successful event on the continuous two-day epic narration in Talas.

Young and famous Manas narrators from all over Kyrgyzstan plan to continuously narrate the epic during 24 hours in Talas.
