Bishkek, Dec. 2, 2020 / Kabar/. “Despite all the difficulties, Kyrgyzstan honorably fulfills its obligations within the framework of the CSTO, fully supports ideas and initiatives aimed at ensuring regional and international security and strengthening the potential of the Organization as a whole,” acting President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesha Talant Mamytov said at a session of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in the format of a video conference chaired by the Russian Federation.
The press service of the President reported that, the acting head of state stressed that today's session is being held at a difficult time - the coronavirus pandemic, having become the main problem for humanity, has extremely adversely affected the entire world order system, including the world economy and trade.
Mamytov added that hence all the negative consequences of a social and humanitarian nature, first of all, for developing countries, to which Kyrgyzstan belongs. He dwelled on the socio-political situation in the country.
“Currently, the socio-political situation in Kyrgyzstan is normalized. The Kyrgyz Republic remains fully committed to all of its international obligations and strict implementation of all previously signed bilateral and multilateral international treaties. State authorities continue to work in a regular mode,” the acting president said.
Talant Mamytov also noted that on Jan. 10, 2021, presidential elections will be held in the Kyrgyz Republic, in connection with which he assured that the authorities make every effort to hold fair and competitive elections, which is an important step for further stabilizing the situation in the country.
Acting head of state stressed that it is necessary to openly admit that the world is changing, contradictions in the world economy have exacerbated the already complex social problems of mankind.
“Globalization and the development of the latest technological processes have, at the same time, generated huge problems in ecology, in the irrational use of the planet's natural resources. Poverty and unemployment are becoming a real scourge for developing economies. In this regard, social and political instability in certain parts of the world creates a real threat to the entire system of world security. One thing is clear - the world today needs new approaches and principles of action. All these factors of world development, more than ever, require concerted and collective action from the CSTO member states. Today the CSTO has real capabilities to solve problems of ensuring regional and global security,” the acting president said.
In this regard, Talant Mamytov stressed Russia’s special role in the CSTO, namely in stabilizing the situation not only in the Caucasus, but also in other difficult regions.
“In general, I believe that the chairmanship and, most importantly, the actions of the Russian Federation in 2020 have greatly strengthened the CSTO and predetermined further ways of its development,” added the acting head of state.
Talant Mamytov expressed deep gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and other partners for their regular support to Kyrgyzstan in the fight against the consequences of the spread of coronavirus infection.
“The results of our joint work show that only together we can overcome this difficult test,” concluded Mamytov.
