Bishkek, Oct. 26, 2020. /Kabar/. Acting President of Kyrgyzstan, Prime Minister Sadyr Zhaparov received on Monday Chairman of the country's State Border Service Ularbek Sharsheyev.
According to the press service of the Kyrgyz president, measures on stabilization of situation at Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border were discussed.
Ularbek Sharsheyev reported about incident in Uch-Dobo village of Batken region of Batken Oblast that happened on Oct. 25.
According to him, Tajik citizens began laying water pipes at the disputed section of the border.
The citizens of Tajikistan did not obey the repeated demands of the Kyrgyz border guards to stop their work; as a result, two shots were fired into the air from the Kyrgyz side.
Work has now been suspended and negotiations are under way with the Tajik side.
Sadyr Zhaparov noted the need to resolve existing border disputes with neighboring countries as soon as possible. He stressed that he would soon pay a multi-day working trip to Batken, Osh and Dzhalal-Abad Oblasts in order to get acquainted with all existing problems on border issues on the spot.
The acting president of Kyrgyzstan gave specific instructions to resolve the recent incident in Batken Oblast and maintain stability at all Kyrgyz border crossings.
