Activists ask Jeenbekov to help with free airtime on television – what for?

Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2018. /Kabar/. Bishkek activists directly asked President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov to assist in reciving free airtime on state television channels.

This appeal was made today at the official opening of the Republican Congress of Youth of Kyrgyzstan. Eco-activist and initiator of the Otkrytoe Nebo (Russian: Открытое небо, lit.: Open Sky) project Ermek Adylbekov, speaking on the state of air quality in Bishkek, indicated that in order to achieve any results in the struggle for the preservation of nature, it is necessary first of all to reach people’s consciousness.

“This can be done through television and other media. But even for the promotion of good ideas you have to pay for airtime, but it is quite expensive. Therefore, we would like to ask for assistance in receiving five hours of airtime for each month, which we will use to show informative social clips,” Adylbekov explained.

In addition, he drew the attention of participants to the merciless use of vehicles, that this requires an increase in the tax on cars due to its harmful effects on the environment. He also asked the President to pay attention to the problem of expanding road ways by cutting down trees.

The Republican Congress of Youth of Kyrgyzstan is held at Ala-Archa state residence. The event is timed to the Day of Youth. It is attended by representatives of active and enterprising groups from all regions of the country. The congress gathered over 140 delegates.

Discussions around the government program "Development of Youth Policy for 2017-2020" will last for two days and is divided into five blocks. At the opening of the congress, presentations of the best youth projects will be shown.

Further, the leadership of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Culture and Sports under the Kyrgyz Government will tell about the work on the implementation of the above-mentioned program, and afterwards the participants will go to the Palace of Sports named after Kozhomkul Kaba uulu for plenary discussions and group work.
