ADB to allocate $ 110 mln for rehabilitation of Toktogul HPP, phase 3

Bishkek, July 3 / Kabar /. President Almazbek Atambayev approved the ratification of the agreement with the Asian Development Bank on Rehabilitation of the Toktogul HPP. Phase 3 project, the Kyrgyz President’s press service reported.

In accordance with the document, ADB will allocate $ 110 million to Kyrgyzstan, of which $ 50 million is grant, and 60 million is loan.

The bank has already allocated $ 110 million for the second phase. In total, the rehabilitation project for the Toktogul HPP consists of three phases.

The money will be used to increase the capacity of each unit up to 60 MW. Besides, works will be also carried out to rehabilitate engineering structures and dam monitoring systems.

The Toktogul HPP was put into operation in 1975, it occupies the second place in Central Asia in terms of capacity.
