Bishkek, Mar. 28, 2019. /Kabar/. Within the framework of the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan, agreements worth more than $ 6 billion have been signed, President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov stated at the 8th Kyrgyz-Russian inter-regional conference.
He noted that Putin’s state visit brought the Kyrgyz-Russian relations to a new historical path. The head of Kyrgyzstan drew attention to the fact that the visit of the Russian leader was a success, agreements worth several billion dollars were signed.
“We had an open conversation on further trade and economic cooperation. Particular attention was paid to increasing turnover and investment. I want to emphasize that thanks to the personal participation and support of Vladimir Vladimirovich, an active and trust-based dialogue has developed,” he noted.
Sooronbay Jeenbekov also spoke about intensification of Kyrgyzstan’s activities in the EAEU.
“Since the formation of the union, trade and administrative barriers between our countries have been removed. Within the framework of the EAEU, the development of transport and logistics has begun. There was a revival of trade in the absence of restrictions. Kyrgyz entrepreneurs gained access to the 180-million market. It can be stated that our integration into the EAEU is going well,” the head of Kyrgyzstan added.
In addition, Jeenbekov said that Kyrgyzstan is interested in attracting investment into priority sectors. He stressed that the integration of domestic enterprises with Russian enterprises is important for the republic.
The President drew the attention of Russian business circles to the conditions created in Kyrgyzstan.
“We have great untapped potential for implementation of joint projects. One of the promising areas of our cooperation could be creation of joint Kyrgyz-Russian enterprises in our country. I propose to consider the possibility of producing component parts for industrial enterprises in Russia. In Kyrgyzstan, there are defense industry enterprises that could fulfill the orders of state-owned companies in Russia. We have one of the most liberal revenue laws. Access to natural resources also includes electrical energy generation. This is an advantage for joint enterprises. Electricity tariffs are the lowest among the CIS countries. The country has skilled workforce and a flexible education system that allows to prepare the necessary personnel in a short time. In the Kyrgyz Republic, all sectors of the economy are export-oriented. The components of public-private partnership are actively promoted,” Sooronbay Jeenbekov said and added that Kyrgyzstan is the only country in the region that has GSP+ status.
In addition, the President of Kyrgyzstan announced that it is becoming important to combine potential resources of the region.
“We attach great importance to involvement of our country in the process of inter-regional cooperation. It is important to establish sister city relations. Coordinated work between the governors should be at the core,” he added.
Moreover, the head of Kyrgyzstan stated his readiness to support the wishes of the business community with regard to the procedures in the country and improvement of the business climate.
Special attention, according to Jeenbekov, should be given to development of cooperation between the regions in the field of tourism, which is becoming popular among Russian tourists. During his speech, Sooronbay Jeenbekov did not leave out the issues of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere.
Concluding his speech, the President noted that the inter-regional conference had been held on such an impressive scale for the first time.
“According to preliminary estimates, bilateral documents worth more than $ 6 billion have been signed. This means that this platform is becoming an effective platform for the development of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia,” he concluded.
