On 24 September President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov signed a decree “On pardoning convicted individuals in honour of the 27hth anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence” to release 1722 residents from further serving their prison sentences.
In June 2018 the head of the state pardoned some 611 individuals in honour of the Night of Decree.
