Brussels, Nov. 23, 2018. /Kabar/. Negotiations on the adoption of a new strategy for cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union are proceeding on schedule, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov told journalists.
He said that this strategy is important for Kyrgyzstan and the region as a whole. “We are working on the agreement in three directions. The first is strengthening of the rule of law, the second is economy, the third is sectoral issues. We achieved good results concerning two points. It is planned to hold the next round of negotiations in the near future,” he explained.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic noted that a meeting of the EU Council -Kyrgyzstan is planned to be held in Brussels in December.
“We will discuss the progress achieved on the draft agreement. Also, issues of bilateral cooperation will be discussed,” the Minister of Foreign Affairs added.
A week of Central Asia is taking place in the European Union. In this regard, the Central Asia Foreign Ministers' meeting is held there with the participation of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
