Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov, as part of a working visit to China, met with member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, Secretary of the Party Committee of the XUAR of the People's Republic of China, Ma Xingrui.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted with satisfaction that this meeting created an opportunity to compare notes on the agenda of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation, and that the Kyrgyz Republic and the People's Republic of China always support each other on every issue.
Speaking about the efforts undertaken by the Kyrgyz Republic to increase the capacity of the Irkeshtam and Torugart checkpoints, Akylbek Zhaparov said that the checkpoints are currently operating on a seven-day, 14-hour work schedule and, together with the People's Republic of China, are aimed at transition to round-the-clock mode, that is, 24/7.
The chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers touched upon the issue of constructing a conveyor belt with a coal base in the area of the Irkeshtam checkpoint, where the corresponding land plot was allocated for this project, as well as issues related to the opening of a new checkpoint "Bedel" on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border and the construction of the Barskoon highway - Uchturfan - Aksu.
“The heads of our countries have set big goals for the opening of the Bedel checkpoint and the launch of the road in the current 2024. Undoubtedly, the Bedel checkpoint will open a new milestone in the history of friendship between our countries and will make a major additional contribution to the increase in cargo flow from China to the countries of Central Asia and beyond,” said Akylbek Zhaparov.
In turn, Ma Xingrui, expressed gratitude to the head of the Cabinet of Ministers, Akylbek Zhaparov, for his visit to Kashgar, noted the importance of the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries and supported the proposals of the Kyrgyz side.
“The Xinjiang region plays a big role in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative because we border Kyrgyzstan, so your visit is very important,” said Ma Xingrui.
In addition, the parties discussed in detail the issues of energy, subsoil use, agricultural exports, e-commerce and bond zones.
At the end of the meeting, Akylbek Zhaparov proposed opening air service on the route Osh - Kashgar - Osh and invited the Secretary of the Party Committee of the XUAR of the People's Republic of China, Ma Xingrui., and the head of the People's Government of the XUAR, Erkin Tuniyaz, to visit Kyrgyzstan on a working visit.
