Cholpon-Ata, Aug. 25, 2022. / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov and Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Mishustin held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, which is being held in Cholpon-Ata town of Kyrgyzstan.
Akylbek Zhaparov noted that cooperation between the two countries is characterized by active interaction at almost all levels, both on a bilateral and multilateral basis within the framework of international organizations and integration associations.
He said that there is a stable growth of trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries. During the first half of the year, mutual trade turnover with the Russian Federation increased by almost 40% and amounted to USD 1 billion 426.5 million, while exports from our republic to the Russian Federation almost doubled.
Akylbek Zhaparov said that the removal of all restrictions on passenger traffic between the countries, including air, road and rail transportation, contributed to a significant influx of Russian tourists in the summer season.
“For the first time, 14 direct flights per week are carried out from Russian cities to the Issyk-Kul region (Issyk-Kul airport in the village of Tamchy). We are very pleased that the fraternal people choose our republic for recreation. I am glad that the parties have begun the implementation of agreements on the construction of nine educational institutions on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic,” he said.
The chairman of the Cabinet also raised the issue of the legal status of our compatriots working in the Russian Federation.
Mikhail Mishustin, in turn, expressed interest in expanding cooperation in all current areas.
“Our common goal is to create conditions for solving long-term strategic tasks in the trade and economic sphere, ensuring a favorable investment and business climate. These issues are dealt with by a bilateral intergovernmental commission. It is necessary to speed up the signing of a new economic cooperation program for 2022-2026, which will further expand cooperation, increase trade turnover, the volume of mutual investments,” he said, adding that the Russian side proposes the implementation of joint projects in the automotive industry, agriculture, and transport infrastructure.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a set of topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
