Bishkek, Dec. 12, 2022 / Kabar/. The Kyrgyz-Arab economic cooperation has acquired a new breath. Evidence of this is the intensive mutual visits, business forums and business meetings, including the Agreement on the establishment of a joint holding company in the Kyrgyz Republic with an authorized fund of USD100 million. The business communities of the two countries established personal contacts and discussed prospects for cooperation. Specific steps have been outlined to intensify trade and economic cooperation, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov told at the 2nd plenary meeting of the joint intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Emirati Commission for Economic Cooperation in Abu Dhabi city of the United Arab Emirates.
He added that over the period from 2019 to 2021, the trade turnover of the Kyrgyz Republic with the United Arab Emirates increased by 2.9 times, including exports - 5.4 times, imports - by 10.2%.
“The volume of bilateral trade last year amounted to almost USD 70 million, and for 8 months of this year it was already USD 69 million. We must not only maintain this positive momentum, but also work together to further strengthen it,” the head of the Cabinet emphasized.
Akylbek Zhaparov also noted the readiness of the Kyrgyz Republic to increase the supply of meat products, organic vegetables and fruits, honey, dried fruits, beans, canned products and felt products to the UAE.
He paid special attention to the development of the energy sector and expressed interest in further enhancing cooperation in the field of direct investment in the energy sector, the construction of hydroelectric power plants and the development of renewable energy sources.
Further, a number of heads of state bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Arab Emirates presented extended information in the format of presentations on priority areas of cooperation.
Based on the results of the 2nd plenary meeting of the joint intergovernmental Kyrgyz-Emirati Commission on economic cooperation, the final protocol was signed.
