Akylbek Zhaparov: Kyrgyzstan will be able to earn up to KGS 2 bln from gambling activities:

In case of adoption of the bill on legalization of casinos, already this year the country will earn KGS 1 to 2 billion from gambling activities, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov said at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on Wednesday.

According to him, Kyrgyzstanis will not be able to visit casinos, it will be strictly controlled.

"In case of violation, the gambling establishment will be punished - the license will be revoked, up to confiscation of equipment," Zhaparov said.

The head of the Cabinet also noted that it is also planned to establish a biometric check when entering a casino.

"Casinos, along with tourism, will be able to attract a lot of foreigners to the country. There is a struggle for goods and the flow of money in the world, so we need a tool," Akylbek Zhaparov added.

The Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Budget, Economic and Fiscal Policy approved a bill to legalize casinos.

The Cabinet of Ministers suggests that gambling establishments - casinos, halls with slot machines and sweepstakes - will only be able to be visited by foreign citizens over the age of 21, but they will employ Kyrgyz citizens.

The bill provides for replenishment of the budget and boost the country's economy.
