Bishkek, Nov. 30, 2022 / Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov, during his working visit to Japan, met with Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Nobumitsu Hayashi.
Akylbek Zhaparov emphasized that the Kyrgyz Republic is positively disposed to further strengthening partnership with Japan in all areas, including in attracting such reputable financial institutions as the Bank of Japan for international cooperation.
“Attracting foreign investment and creating a favorable investment climate is a key priority of the economic policy of the Kyrgyz Republic on the path to sustainable economic growth and poverty reduction. One of the priority areas of the National Development Program of the country until 2026 is the liberalization of the economy, the improvement of tax administration and investment legislation. In this context, it is important to create favorable conditions for the activities of Japanese companies and develop direct contacts between the business circles of the two countries,” he said.
The head of the Cabinet noted that given the current situation in the world economy, the shortage and high prices for many energy sources, renewable energy sources are increasingly coming to the fore in comparison with traditional ones.
“In order to rationally use water and energy resources, we propose to consider projects in the field of renewable energy sources for joint implementation. The Cabinet of Ministers invites the financial institution to consider the implementation of large infrastructure projects in the field of transport and communications, which would have a positive multiplier effect,” Akylbek Zhaparov concluded.
Nobumitsu Hayashi noted that the financial institution is ready for mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.
“The main task is to interest Japanese companies to enter the Kyrgyz market. Tomorrow's Central Asian Investment Forum is aimed at achieving this goal. We need to make joint efforts so that the upcoming forum brings its positive results,” he stated.
During the conversation, Nobumitsu Hayashi expressed support for the actions of the Cabinet of Ministers, which, in the face of rising energy and food prices, made it possible to stabilize the macroeconomic situation in the Kyrgyz Republic.
