Akylbek Zhaparov: Peak payments of public debt by Kyrgyzstan will be in 2024-2026

Bishkek, Feb. 11, 2022. / Kabar /. The peak of payments by Kyrgyzstan of the public debt will be in 2024-2026, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov told at the board of the Ministry of Finance of the country.

He said that the debt will have to be paid in dollars and it is still unknown what the exchange rate will be.

“In this regard, it is necessary to accelerate the pace of economic growth, eradicate the gray economy, increase tax revenues to the state budget and increase gross domestic product per capita,” he said.

At the end of 2021, the amount of public debt (external + internal) of the Kyrgyz Republic amounted to USD 4 billion 954.11 million, of which:

- 85.2% is the state external debt USD 4 billion 221.61 million;

- 14.8% is the state domestic debt USD 732.50 million.
