Bishkek, Oct 4, 2022 / Kabar /. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov received Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas.
Issues of regional security were discussed during the meeting.
The head of the Cabinet noted that over the period of formation and development, the role of the CSTO in the system of international regional organizations in the field of security has noticeably strengthened and increased.
At the same time, Akylbek Zhaparov informed his interlocutor about the recent military incursion of Tajikistan into the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic.
"As a result of fire strikes by the Tajik side, civil and social infrastructure facilities in the border villages of the Batken region of the Kyrgyz Republic were destroyed. In particular, 12 schools, 11 kindergartens were damaged, 612 houses were almost completely burned down. 63 civilians and military personnel of Kyrgyzstan died, 198 people were injured, more than 142 thousand people were evacuated," the chairman of the Cabinet emphasized.
Akylbek Zhaparov added that the Kyrgyz Republic has always been, is and will be a supporter of resolving all issues exclusively by peaceful means.
"This is our unchanging position. However, we will not allow encroachments on our territorial integrity and sovereignty. We do not need someone else's, but we will not give up our own. Such illegal and destructive actions of the Tajik side undermine the authority of our common Organization," Akylbek Zhaparov said, adding, that the civil society of the Kyrgyz Republic rightly wonders what kind of collective security can be discussed when armed conflicts and clashes take place within the Organization between the Member States.
In turn, Stanislav Zas expressed condolences in connection with the recent events on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border, noting that such tragedies should not be repeated in the future.
The CSTO secretary general highly appreciated the clear focus of the Kyrgyz side to resolve issues peacefully.
During the meeting, Stanislav Zas informed Akylbek Zhaparov about the preparations for the next session of the CSTO Collective Security Council planned in the Republic of Armenia.
