Bishkek, Sept. 12, 2023. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Zhaparov met with participants of a meeting of the CIS Information Council, which includes heads of state media of the Commonwealth.

Having welcomed the guests, the head of the Cabinet of Ministers noted the significant contribution of the CIS Information Council to strengthening friendship and creative relations between the peoples and countries included in the interstate association.

“In our opinion, the CIS, including the information council, makes a significant contribution to maintaining good relations between peoples who have common historical and cultural roots. Good work is usually unnoticed and taken for granted. But this work deserves the highest marks.

Therefore, I want to express my gratitude for the activities that strengthen our Commonwealth, educate the younger generation, promote the traditional values and culture of our peoples, preserve our common history and open the way to the future. I am confident that it will be kind and creative, despite some contradictions that sometimes arise between our countries. We will definitely overcome these difficulties, since the CIS is one big family,” the head of the Cabinet of Ministers emphasized addressing the participants of the Information Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Akylbek Zhaparov also noted the importance of the fact that, at the initiative of the heads of state, 2023 was declared the Year of the Russian Language in the CIS countries. Kyrgyzstan, as the country presiding over the Commonwealth, took an active part in the preparation and holding of creative competitions, cultural and humanitarian projects, forums and other events.

“It so happened historically that Russian became the language that unites our space, where we understand each other, as they say, perfectly.

In Kyrgyzstan, serious attention is paid to the preservation of the Russian language. This language is enshrined in the Constitution of Kyrgyzstan as the official language. Recently, Presidents Sadyr Zhaparov and Vladimir Putin launched the construction of 9 modern schools in all regions of our republic. Since independence, this will probably be the largest educational project implemented in Kyrgyzstan. And new educational institutions will become models of interaction in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, a forge of educated youth and a place for the formation of the intellectual core of the nation.

Now it is important and necessary to strengthen and develop the Commonwealth, since we will never have other neighbors, and all of us, our peoples, need a stable and peaceful future, confidence in the future,” Akylbek Zhaparov emphasized.

Participants of the meeting of the CIS Information Council thanked the head of the government of Kyrgyzstan for the warm welcome. Deputy General Director of TASS Mikhail Gusman noted: “Kyrgyzstan is the country where you feel at home. And that's wonderful."

TASS General Director Andrei Kondrashov told the head of the government of Kyrgyzstan about the upcoming meeting of heads of state media of the CIS. “I would like to inform you that at today’s meeting in Bishkek we plan to discuss issues of cooperation, exchange of experience, and coverage of humanitarian activities in our countries.

This year has been declared in the CIS the Year of the Russian language as a language of interethnic communication, and the next year will be the Year of the Volunteer Movement. 2025 will be the Year of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Year of peace and unity in the fight against Nazism. 2026 will be the Year of Health. I am sure that such topics will be a priority in our information work,” Andrey Kondrashov emphasized.

The activities of the CIS Information Council are aimed at ensuring interaction and cooperation of the Commonwealth countries in the information sphere, as well as strengthening media partnerships.
