Bishkek, April 12, 2024 / Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers - Head of the Presidential Administration of the Kyrgyz Republic Akylbek Zhaparov took part in the opening ceremony of the Asian Wrestling Championship in Bishkek on Thursday.
About 600 athletes from more than 30 countries take part in the Asian Championship.
In his speech Zhaparov welcomed participants of the Asian Wrestling Championship on behalf of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers.
“Wrestling is not only a test of strength and agility, but also a discipline that stands out for its elegance and technique. This championship will be a platform to showcase the outstanding athletic skills, tenacity and fighting spirit that define true champions. The best athletes of Asia will compete for the honorary title of Asian champion and a ticket to the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, including all the leading athletes of our country,” said the head of the Cabinet of Ministers.
He noted that the country's leadership pays special attention to the development of this sport, adding that out of five licenses won by our athletes, four were won in wrestling.
The chairman of the Cabinet expressed confidence that these competitions will be held at a high organizational level, serve to further develop wrestling in Kyrgyzstan, strengthen friendly ties between athletes and become a springboard for our young athletes and new stars to be lit on the sports Olympus.
