Bishkek. Aug. 18, 2022. /Kabar/. Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov received Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen.
During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation with a special focus on trade, economic, transport and logistics areas, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.
The ambassador conveyed the message of Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Li Keqiang regarding the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.
It was noted that the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is an important regional project that is of strategic importance for promoting economic development and improving the well-being of the peoples of the three countries.
The Chinese side stressed with satisfaction that thanks to the joint efforts of the three parties, the development of a feasibility study for the railway construction project has successfully begun and expressed its willingness to cooperate with the Kyrgyz and Uzbek sides to further its advancement.
Akylbek Zhaparov, thanking Li Keqiang for the message, stressed the priority importance of the implementation of the railway construction project for the Kyrgyz Republic.
“There is a significant shift in the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project. We hope that the active phase of the project will soon begin,” the head of the Cabinet noted.
During the meeting, Du Dewen informed that the Chinese side had decided to extend the working hours of checkpoints on the Kyrgyz-Chinese state border to 2 hours from August to October 31, 2022.
In addition, the Chinese side expressed its readiness to increase the number of flights between the two countries (currently, there is one flight every two weeks). It is planned to increase the frequency of flights between Kyrgyzstan and China up to 3 times a week.
The ambassador also noted that in October this year, leading Chinese ophthalmologists are expected to arrive in Kyrgyzstan, who are ready to perform 550 eye cataract surgeries to needy citizens of Kyrgyzstan free of charge as part of the Express Health project.
The Kyrgyz side emphasized the importance of China as the main trade and economic partner and noted its readiness for further fruitful work in all priority areas of cooperation.
