Bishkek, Aug. 7, 2023 / Kabar /. World champion Akzhol Makhmudov won gold at the international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament in Serbia, the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The Ljubomir Ivanovic Gedza Memorial tournament was held on August 5 in Belgrade.
Mahmudov competed in the tournament in the weight category up to 77, where a total of 9 athletes were declared.
The Kyrgyzstani started from the 1/4 final stage, where he defeated the 2022 vice world champion Zoltan Levai from Hungary.
In the semi-finals, Makhmudov defeated another representative of Hungary, Attila Tosmagi, and reached the final.
In the decisive fight, the current world champion defeated the 27-year-old bronze medalist of the Russian championship Adlet Tyulyubaev.
In the final protocol, Makhmudov took 1st place and won the gold medal.
