Almost 2,800 fires registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2020

Bishkek, Jan. 19, 2021. /Kabar/. 2 thousand 778 fires were registered in the territory of Kyrgyzstan during 12 months of 2020 (in 2019 - 3 thousand 955), Deputy Emergency Minister of the country Kalys Akhmatov said during a briefing at the Government House.

He added that in comparison with the last year, the number of fired decreased by 39.8%.

Akhmatov said a total of 43 people died in fires (in 2019 - 50 people), 31 people were injured (in 2019 - 65 people), and 107 people were rescued.

According to the deputy minister, the main causes of fires are:

- violations of the rules of electrical equipment operation - 38.6%,

- careless handling of fire - 21.3%,

- violation of the rules of operation of heating furnaces and chimneys -11.2%.

"Out of the total number of fires, 1818 fires occurred in the residential sector, that is - 65.4%,” said Akhmatov.
