Bishkek, Aug. 9, 2018 / Kabar /. Almost 40% of the economy of Kyrgyzstan remains in the shadow.
The Ministry of Economy reported that in 2006 the level of the shadow economy was fixed at 53%, according to the results of the latest research in 2012 - the indicator was 39% of GDP. The ministry did not provide new data.
At the same time, according to data of the National Statistics Committee, in 2015 the level of the non-observed sector of the economy was 23.8%.
Given the importance of reducing the scale of the shadow economy, the Ministry of Economy plans to conduct a comprehensive and sectoral study of the unobserved sector of the economy and develop a new Action Plan to reduce the shadow economy.
In this regard, the Ministry of Economy, with the technical support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), has begun to study the volume of the non-observed sector of the country's economy.
International company PricewaterhauseCoopers LLP ("PwC") will study the scale of the shadow economy of Kyrgyzstan and give recommendations.
