Bishkek, Aug. 7, 2020. /Kabar/. In all regions of the country, oblast and district headquarters have been established for the timely harvesting this year’s crops, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Land Reclamation Erkinbek Choduyev told a briefing Friday.

He added harvesting schedules by oblast, district have been developed locally and the routes for combine harvesters are being determined.

"According to governors’ data, as of Aug. 4, 2020 wheat harvest on the area of 155.4 thousand hectares (62.8%) was gathered throughout the republic, 423.9 thousand tons in hopper weight. As compared to 2019, the gross harvest on this date is 46.8 thousand tons more, while the yield is 27.3 hundred kilograms per hectare, or 2.0 hundred kilograms per hectare more than last year,” the minister said.

Choduyev also noted that other crops are actively harvested. Mostly, there is an increase in potatoes, vegetables and fruit and berry crops yields compared to last year.

"It should be noted that harvesting of wheat is almost completely ended in Chui Oblast, as well as in valley agricultural zones of southern oblasts of the republic. In general, given favorable weather conditions, higher yields can be expected in the Issyk-Kul and Naryn Oblasts. To ensure timely harvesting, work is being done to conclude contracts with Chui Oblast for the transportation of combines to Issyk-Kul and Naryn Oblasts.

“In general, given the current dynamics of harvesting times, timely completion of all planned activities can be expected,” the minister concluded.
