Bishkek, Dec. 29, 2020 /Kabar/. Sayasat.kg news agency conducted a telephone survey among inhabitants of Kyrgyzstan on what form of government they support. More than 67% of respondents spoke in favor of the presidential form of government.
1,322 respondents across the country participated in the survey conducted on Dec. 21 to 24 this year. The survey involved citizens over 18 years old.
80.5% of respondents are sure to participate in the presidential elections and the referendum to be held on Jan. 10, 2021.
4.6% of respondents said they would not take part in the elections.
To the open-ended question "Why are you going to take part in the presidential election and the referendum on the form of government?", 18.3% of respondents believe it is their duty, 16.7% of Kyrgyzstanis consider that it is the right of citizens, 13% believe the future of the country depends on it, 9.6% responded that they want to elect a worthy president.
The presidential form of government is supported by 67.3% of the respondents, the figure being higher in the south of the country and making up 74.4%. The parliamentary form of government is supported by 18.9%, in the south this index is lower and amounts to 13.4%.
In Kyrgyzstan, early presidential elections and referendum on the form of government are scheduled on Jan. 10, 2021.
