Bishkek, Dec.27, 2019. /Kabar/. More than 7 million 800 thousand people arrived in Kyrgyzstan during 11 months of the current year, Director of the Department of Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic Maksat Damir uulu said at the press conference at Kabar News Agency, citing the State Border Service.
According to him, at the beginning of the year, they predicted at least 7.5 million people to visit the country.
“Half of them may be tourists, because we have a visa-free regime. In this respect, there is a big leap. During the same period last year there were 127 thousand 750 people, this year -136 thousand 186 people, which is 8 thousand 436 more", he said.
The head of the department assured that the gross value added, exports, investments, turnover in restaurants, retail trade - all show a positive trend in all parameters.
"There is a growth, by the end of the year the GDP in tourism, I think, will be at least 5.5%,” he concluded.
