Bishkek, Sept. 24, 2020 / Kabar /. Almost half a million citizens changed their polling stations in Kyrgyzstan.

488 thousand 873 people applied in Kyrgyzstan with the Form - 2 (application form for change of electoral address) to change the polling station, chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Nurzhan Shaildabekova told at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.

She said that a large number of voters - 10% also applied in elections in 2015 to change the polling station.

“This year, biometric identification was introduced to apply for a change in polling stations. This is a protective measure to exclude cases when, without the knowledge of the voter, he could be excluded from the polling station. During the last election campaign, there were such complaints,” Shaildabekova said.

The CEC chairwoman said that taking into account external and internal migration, this makes it possible to ensure inclusiveness.

“This is a favorable legal condition in determining the order of the voting site for citizens,” she said.

The parliamentary elections in Kyrgyzstan will take place on Oct. 4.

The head of the Central Election Commission added that an abnormal number of applicants for Form-2 were registered this year.

“This is a voluntary statement. In total, 519 thousand people submitted biometric data for this,” she added.

Shaildabekova also noted that some parties do use them for their own purposes, but there are also those who work or study in the city, but are registered in the village.
