According to her data, 849,576 people have been vaccinated in Kyrgyzstan, of whom 8.8% received the first dose of the vaccine, and 3.9% - the second.
“At the same time, the rate of vaccination has decreased by 40.9% compared to last week, which is very regrettable. Just vaccinating, maintaining physical distancing, washing hands, avoiding crowded and confined spaces and wearing a mask are the most effective anti-quarantine measures that can prevent the spread of the disease without shutting down most of the community,” she said.
She noted that the WHO goal is to vaccinate at least 10% of the population of each country by September, at least 40% by the end of the year and 70% worldwide by the middle of next year.
“These are critical milestones that we must reach together to end the pandemic. Vaccines are effective against serious diseases caused by variants: but variants will most likely continue to appear if the problem of global unequal introduction of vaccines is not resolved,” summed up Nazira Artykova.
