Bishkek, Dec.18, 2019. /Kabar/. An alternative tunnel is planned to be built on 110th – 115th km of the Bishkek - Osh highway, Deputy Minister of Transport and Roads of Kyrgyzstan Bakyt Berdaliyev said at the press conference at Kabar News Agency.
The deputy minister said the approximate cost of the project is USD 235-250 million, the road will be 11 km long.
“The payback period of the construction project of the toll tunnel will be 15 years. The project will be implemented as part of a public-private partnership. Now 2-3 local companies have shown interest and they want to implement the project under the Memorandum. At the moment, feasibility studies are being carried out,” Berdaliyev said.
An alternative road that will connect the north and south of Kyrgyzstan has been under construction since 2014.
The cost of the project is almost USD 1 billion. The highway is planned to be completed by the end of 2021.
