Ambassador Du Dewen attends celebration of Chinese New Year at capital's school

Bishkek, Jan. 21, 2020./Kabar/. One of the schools in capital city of Bishkek celebrated the Chinese New Year.

According to the press service of the Bishkek Mayor's Office, the event at the school No.69 named after Satylganov was attended by Deputy Mayor Tatyana Kuznetsova and Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen.

"Pupils demonstrated their knowledge of Chinese culture and language, and also discussed the rules of preparation for the Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Chinese language test.

The event ended with a festive concert of school students, with children singing, dancing and telling fairy tales," the report says.

Satylganov School has Confucius class, which was recognized at the International Conference in China as the best school class of the Chinese.

It was opened in 2011.

Chinese New Year (or generally referred to as Lunar New Year globally) is the Chinese festival that celebrates the beginning of a new year on the traditional Chinese calendar.

The festival is usually referred to as the Spring Festival in mainland China, and is one of several Lunar New Years in Asia.

The first day of Chinese New Year begins on the new moon that appears between Jan.21 and Feb.20.

In 2020, the first day of the Chinese New Year will be on Saturday, Jan.25, initiating the Year of the Rat.
