Bishkek, Apr. 10, 2019 / Kabar /. Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Korea Dinara Kemelova met with former UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, who is the President of the Global Institute for Green Growth Assembly, as well as the Honorary President of the Institute for Global Participation and Empowerment of the Center for Sustainable Development.
The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic reported, during the conversation, the Kyrgyz Ambassador expressed interest in various projects on sustainable development promoted by the Global Institute on green growth. Kemelova also briefed on the joint work of the government with UN bodies on the implementation of the Global Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, the state faces priority tasks in providing the population with clean water and sanitation, low-cost and clean energy, health, and the eradication of poverty and hunger, especially in remote areas of Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan faces challenges to the disappearance of glaciers, as well as natural disasters associated with climate change.
Ban Ki-moon noted that he visited the Kyrgyz Republic 2 times and will never forget the beautiful nature of Kyrgyzstan.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the above areas, as well as on increasing the number of students and researchers in Kyrgyzstan in the universities of the Republic of Korea and global institutions.
