Bishkek, Nov. 11, 2020 / Kabar /. At the invitation of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbaev is on a working visit to the Republic of Turkey from Nov. 9 to 11.
During the meeting, the sides comprehensively assessed the current state of Kyrgyz-Turkish relations and the possibilities of their development and deepening in all spheres, as well as exchanged views on regional and international issues of concern to both countries.
The Turkish side wished success to the new government of Kyrgyzstan and noted the importance of holding early presidential and new parliamentary elections in the coming period within the framework of the Constitution, based on public consensus and an inclusive approach.
The sides spoke in favor of deepening cooperation and coordination in such areas as foreign policy, security and defense, economy, trade, science and industry, transport, energy, environment and urbanism, health care, food security, agriculture and animal husbandry, education, culture, tourism and sports. In this context, the sides agreed to make maximum use of bilateral and multilateral mechanisms.
The ministers agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral ties on the basis of mutual benefit in the field of international land, air and rail transport, including communications infrastructure, as well as take concrete steps for cooperation within the framework of the Trans-Caspian Middle East-West Corridor Initiative.
At the same time, the two ministers confirmed their readiness to make joint efforts to quickly achieve the goal set by the leaders of the two countries to increase the level of trade between the two countries to $ 1 billion. In this context, the Kyrgyz side undertook to take all necessary measures to ensure the legal and physical security of Turkish investments in Kyrgyzstan.
Kazakbaev noted the importance of deepening existing cooperation and coordination and strengthening solidarity in regional and international organizations, in particular through the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States (Turkic Council).
The minister also stressed the importance of interaction in the fight against the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this context, the Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for assistance in countering the consequences of the epidemic. The Turkish side confirmed that it will continue cooperation with Kyrgyzstan in the field of health and is ready to provide the brotherly Kyrgyz people with the necessary assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In conclusion, the Kyrgyz minister expressed gratitude to his colleague for the hospitality and invited his counterpart to pay an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic at a convenient time for him as part of the next meeting of the Joint Strategic Planning Group.
Following the talks, the sides adopted a Joint Statement by the heads of the foreign ministries.
