Tashkent, April 27, 2021 . / Kabar / . Uzbekistan has received 50,000 doses of the second component of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, the press service of the Uzbek Health Ministry said.
Under a contract between the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Government of Uzbekistan, one million doses of the Russian vaccine designed to vaccinate half a million people will be delivered to the republic.
The first batch of Sputnik V arrived in Uzbekistan on April 23.
At present, mass vaccination of the population is taking place in the country. Citizens are offered to choose one of the two vaccines: the Chinese-Uzbek ZF-UZ-VAC2001 or the European AstraZeneca.
In the near future, the government intends to buy additional doses of these vaccines. By the end of the year, up to seven million Uzbeks are expected to participate in the vaccination campaign.
