Another suspect of assassination attempt on former press secretary of Uzbek president detained

Another suspect of the assassination attempt on the former press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, Komil Allamjonov, has been detained in Seoul, South Korea, the Uzbek media reported.

According to media reports, four men have been detailed in connection with criminal case into the attempted murder of the former press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan, Komil Allamjonov.

In an ongoing investigation, the General Prosecutor’s Office classified the incident as murder attempt.

The event took place on October 26, 2024 at 1:30 a.m. while Allamojonov was traveling home from work. The former state official and his driver were not hurt.

Some reports claim a man named Javlon Yunusov has an affiliation with the assassination attempt. His name is listedin Interpol’s “Wanted Persons” category under the Red Notice.

40-year-old Komil Allamjonov served as the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan from December 2017 to October 2018. Then he was appointed acting director general of the Uzbek Agency for Press and Information (UzAPI), which was later transformed into the Agency for Information and Mass Communications (AIMC).
