On February 22, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Asein Isayev received Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Central Asia - the head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Kakha Imnadze, who arrived in Bishkek as part of a tour to Central Asian countries.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, Imnadze provided detailed information on the activities of the Regional Center in 2023, shared action plans and initiatives for 2024, reiterating that the activities of the Regional Center will serve the purpose of strengthening cooperation between the states of the region.
The parties discussed issues of cooperation between the Regional Center and the Central Asian states in the field of countering terrorism and combating drug trafficking, and the situation in Afghanistan.
Isaev thanked the head of UNRCCA for his active work and noted that the Kyrgyz Republic highly appreciates the achieved level of interaction with the UN and expresses its readiness to continue further comprehensive cooperation with UNRCCA within the framework of its mandate on preventive activities and assistance to Central Asian countries in effectively responding to challenges and threats security.
