Bishkek, Sept. 16, 2020. /Kabar/. The Turkmen capital city of Ashgabat hosted on Sept. 16 an international media forum, devoted to the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, as well as the election of the country as Vice-Chairman of the upcoming 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The large-scale event was organized by the Turkmen side together with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

Over 300 journalists from 68 countries participated both online and attend the event itself at the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
In particular, heads and representatives of a number of ministries of Turkmenistan, diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in the republic, representatives of national and foreign media – public and television and broadcasting organizations took part in the forum.

Delegates from the republic itself and foreign countries highlighted Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, recognized by the United Nations by relevant resolutions.
Speakers also noted the success and effectiveness of the Central Asian republic’s foreign policy pursued by Head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow.
Opening the event, Chairman of the State News Agency of Turkmenistan Bekdurdy Amansariyev noted that quarter century journey of the Turkmen state has demonstrated the effectiveness of the policy of neutrality and its full compliance with interests of the world community. Foreign neutrality is the most important mechanism in the process of creating the world, solving all controversial regional and global issues.
Delivering speech at the international event, Acting President of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), Director General and Chairman of the Turkish Television and Radio Broadcasting Corporation “TRT” Ibrahim Eren noted that from the very beginning Turkmenistan has chosen this political course to promote global peace and stability, and to reinforce the importance of coexistence and sustainable development.
Javad Mottaghi, the Secreatry General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) stressed that being a new phenomenon in international legal practice, Turkmen neutrality became the basis for a new concept of cooperation and preservation of peace on earth.
