Askarov: 2019 should be an important and effective year for the regions

Bishkek, Jan. 28, 2019. /Kabar/. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zamirbek Askarov took part in a meeting of the board of the plenipotentiary representative office of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic in Talas oblast on the results of the socio-economic development of the region for 2018 and the tasks for 2019.

In his speech, Askarov elaborated on the priority programs of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, the implementation of which began in 2018, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government Office reported.

“By the end of 2018, the volume of republican GDP amounted to 557.1 billion soms, the real growth of the economy was 3.5%. Along with that, last year work began on the implementation of a number of promising projects. For example, the Tunduk electronic system was launched, the electronic portal of public services began to function fully. In the interests of every citizen, the country's transition to digitalization continues. In addition, work began on an inventory of state property, measures to fiscalize the economy were strengthened,” he said.

Askarov noted that the level of subsidies in the regions should be reduced.

“The level of subsidies in Talas oblast is 33.2%. Of the 37 ail okmotus (local authorities), 33 are subsidized. A full-time government office in Talas oblast needs to carry out systematic work to reduce the level of subsidies. In this context, attracting investments to the region is of great importance. At the same time, local authorities should pay close attention to building a constructive dialogue with foreign investors. We should not forget that investors create new enterprises and jobs for the local population, thereby increasing the amount of contribution to local budgets,” he said.

The Vice Prime Minister emphasized that the year 2019 should be an important and effective year for the regions. He added that as part of the decree of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbekov on Declaring 2019 the Year of Regional Development and Digitalization, measures to develop the regions will continue.

At the end of the meeting, government awards were presented to heads and employees of local governments, social and educational institutions, enterprises of Talas oblast following the preparation and holding of the third World Nomad Games and the implementation of the decree of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Jeenbekov.
