Bishkek, Mar. 27, 2019. /Kabar/. Vice Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Zamirbek Askarov expressed hope that the Eurasian Economic Commission will solve the issues of artificial barriers for Kyrgyz entrepreneurs. He stated it at the VIII inter-regional Kyrgyz-Russian conference.
“Our conference is being held on the eve of the upcoming visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kyrgyzstan. I am confident that the meeting of our presidents will be a historic turn for the two countries and our peoples. The list of conference participants shows that new horizons are opening up today. Economic, political and cultural cooperation date back to ancient times. The centuries-old friendship has has stood the test of time and was sealed by our ancestors,” he said, and recalled that Kyrgyzstan and Russia had made it through the war, post-war restructuring and the acquisition of independence.
In addition, Askarov said that Russia is the main partner of Kyrgyzstan today.
He also said that the VIII interregional conference is taking place in the conditions of global economy and volatility of oil and gas prices.
“Despite the fact that global investment has decreased by 23%, the trade turnover between Kyrgyzstan and Russia can reach a historic minimum of $ 2 billion. We highly appreciate the assistance that the Russian Federation provided to us in joining the EAEU and in ensuring the duty-free supply of oil and oil products,” he added.
Askarov noted that the cooperation of the two countries is entering new horizons and has a positive growth. He believes that a free market should be created without barriers and restrictions.
“More than 80% of Kyrgyz products, except meat, can be passed to the territory of Russia. At the same time, facts of protectionist policy and unsound competition on the part of supervising bodies can be observed. As a result, the Kyrgyz side suffers losses. I hope for positive work, and that the EAEU will intensify work in resolving the issue of restrictions,” he concluded.
