Bishkek, May 29, 2020 / Kabar /. The fight against COVID-19 should not impede mutual trade. Cargo traffic should be carried out as before, Vice Prime Minister Erkin Asrandiev told at an online meeting of heads of government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

“Our actions in the fight against COVID-19 should not lead to a break in the established production and cooperation chains. In conditions of universal isolation and forced closure of borders, it is important for us to ensure unhindered transit of cargo transportation between our countries and with foreign countries. In ensuring macroeconomic stability, the coherence of countries plays a big role. We must organize green corridors that would allow the uninterrupted delivery of goods and foodstuffs across the territory of the CIS member states,” the press service of the Kyrgyz government reported citing the vice prime minister.

Asrandiev thanked the partner countries for the assistance provided to the Kyrgyz side in the fight against coronavirus infection and noted the importance of continuing work in overcoming its consequences.

“The situation has shown our interconnectedness and interdependence. Therefore, we consider the document on the development of collective measures to overcome the consequences for the economic, financial, social and humanitarian spheres of life of our countries to be important and support its adoption. The Kyrgyz side also believes that now is the time to exchange experiences in restarting the real sector of the economy and boosting business activity in the CIS countries. At the same time, it is important to work in a coordinated manner on issues of the gradual restoration of economic activity in the Commonwealth space taking into account post-crisis development,” he said.

Erkin Asrandiev expressed hope for continued work in other areas of cooperation, including the promotion of issues in the field of sports, tourism, and youth policy.
