Bishkek, Feb. 11, 2022 . / Kabar / . A rapid Turkish-made test for coronavirus will soon be available in all pharmacies in Kyrgyzstan, company producing the test systems said.
The final prices for customers are set by the pharmacies themselves. But, according to the company, they are much lower than the cost of PCR tests.
Rapid tests are aimed at detecting coronavirus antigen, its proteins and are represented by test strips on which the patient's biological material is applied. The entire test takes no more than 15 minutes, and the result is given within five minutes.
At-home test results for COVID-19 cannot be considered official, but are suitable for self-monitoring of immune status.
"The supplier companies officially import medicine or medical product into the country. They have to have a pharmacy license to sell. We send the products to the laboratory for testing and then we issue an opinion. Only quality products pass our approval. Therefore, when you buy medical products, you need to ask for our certificate," notes Timur Dzhumagulov, the chief specialist of the Department for Quality Assessment of Medicinal Products and Medical Devices of the Department of Medicines and Medical Devices under the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.
He added that since 2020, Kyrgyzstan was importing express tests for COVID-19 of German, which have high price, Chinese and Turkish production. Most of them did not go on retail sale, but were used in private medical clinics.
