Bishkek, Nov. 20, 2017. /Kabar/. “I absolutely do not see the proper work of the head of the Executive Committee of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) in the person of Sarkisyan," Almazbek Atambayev said at his final press conference as president, speaking of the situation on the Kyrgyz-Kazakh border.
The head of state doubts of future of the Eurasian Economic Union. He emphasized that it is definitely necessary to maintain close relations with Russia.
"I do not regret that Kyrgyzstan has joined the EEU, and Kyrgyzstan is not going to leave it. The only thing for the leaders of member countries to do is to think about this. Moreover, I absolutely do not see a proper work from the side of the head of the Executive Committee of the EEU in the person of Sarkisyan. In the European Union such things would not be allowed. It is impossible to imagine that the border would be closed at someone’s whim. We should not build a union on the principle of "Animal Farm," he added.
Atambayev said that the blockade of Kazakhstan does not hurt Kyrgyzstan.
"We get only stronger. Our GDP will decrease only by 0.3% and the growth of the economy will still be higher than in Kazakhstan. This can destroy the image of the EEU, " added the head of the state.
