Bishkek, Dec.17, 2019. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Alex Fernandes earned the gold medal of the 2019 Asian Youth Sport Climbing Championship, the press service of the Kyrgyz Federation of this sport said Tuesday.
The competitions took place in Bangalore, India on Dec. 12-15.
"Representatives of 12 countries competed in difficulty, speed and bouldering. The Kyrgyz competed in Group B (born 2004-2005),” the Federation’s press service reported.
Alex Fernandes became the champion, another representative of the country, Daniil Ababkov took the 12th place.
Climbing is the activity of using one's hands, feet, or any other part of the body to ascend a steep topographical object. It is done for locomotion, recreation and competition, and within trades that rely on ascension; such as emergency rescue and military operations. It is done indoors and out, on natural and man-made structures.
Climbing will be an official sport for the first time in the Olympic Games in 2020. It takes place in Tokyo.
