Athletes from Kyrgyzstan grab gold medal at Children of Asia competition in Russia

Bishkek, Aug. 9, 2022 . / Kabar / . Kyrgyz athletes won gold in shooting at the Children of Asia competitions in Vladivostok, Russia held from July 27 till Aug. 8.

Kyrgyzstanis Imandos Bektenov and Kaiyrgul Kubanychbekova won first place in the MIX event, the Shooting Federation of Kyrgyzstan said.

Meanwhile, they also took bronze and silver medals in the individual event.

This year’s Children of Asia was the seventh edition of the international sporting showpiece and run from July 28 to Aug. 8, RT reported.

It brought together around 1,500 athletes from 14 Asian countries and various Russian regions to compete across 19 different sports.

The event was first held in Yakutia in 1996 to honor the centenary of the modern Olympic movement.

Since then, more than 10,000 young athletes have taken part in the past six editions, including a number of future Olympic champions.
