Bishkek, March 24 / Kabar /. Athletes from Kyrgyzstan won 3 silver medals at the VII World Winter Games of the special Olympics in Austria, the press service of the State Agency for Youth, Physical Education and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.
In total, 2 600 athletes with intellectual disabilities from 105 countries take part in the competitions.
The World Winter Special Olympics are held every four years. People with intellectual disabilities at the age of eight take part in it. Games are aimed at social adaptation and integration into society of people with intellectual disabilities.
The World Winter Special Olympics has began in Austria on March 14 and will last until the 25th. Competitions are held in the cities of Schladming, Ramsau am Dachstein and Graz (the federal state of Styria). The program of the Games includes competitions in eight kinds of sport: mountain skiing, cross country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, figure skating, floorball, hockey on the floor and short track.
The delegation of Kyrgyzstan is represented by 3 athletes, who won silver.
